Riots in Chowk Parag Dass, Amritsar in 1947

Mr. Tufail Uppal shares his recollections about the riots erupted in Amritsar in 1947. 

As soon as the Partiton announcement was made, Riots erupted in Amritsar.In Chowk Prag Dass there was a Hindu business area with a small masjid. In March, 1947 the riots started first in this area of Amritsar in which 25 Muslims died outside the mosque by Hindus and Sikhs Mob.Hindu organization like RSS made good advanced planning. From that time onwards Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs started drifting apart. They were looking with suspicion at each other. Muslims made preparation to take defensive measures in their home.

I am in the search of the book "Jab Amritsar Jal Raha Thaa" written by Khwaja Iftikhar Ahmad in 1981. This book consists of the incidents of riots occured in 1947 in Indian city "Amritsar".

My Ancestral Town "BhawaniPur" Kapurthala.

My Forefathers were from the village Bhawanipur of Kapurthala who were migrated to Pakistan in 1947. My Grandfather "Mian Muhammad Saeed" son of Chaudhary Amanat Ali belonged to Arain Tribe came to Pakistan along with his Brothers, Mother, Wife and children and settled in the village in district Sargodha. They moved to Pakistan before the eruption of riots therefore they were fortunate that they didn't face any hard time.

In Bhawanipur, he and his brother used to cultivate the land.

I wish to visit the ancestral town of my forefathers but when I would be able to make it, don't know. I wish Someone from that village would contact me who would tell me the about more it.
